  • Over a 48-hour span, Shibarium TVL saw a drastic reduction of its liquidity from $121,860-$31,513, a 74.14% decline.
  • DeFi activity moved lower despite renewed attention toward SHIB and related ecosystem tokens during the broader crypto market rally.
  • SHIB derivatives remained active, with major exchanges recording substantial open interest, trading volume, and futures activity.

Shibarium DeFi activity fell 74.14% within 48 hours as locked liquidity declined sharply. The drop came despite renewed attention across the Shiba Inu ecosystem. DeFi metrics moved lower during the period.

Shibarium TVL Drops Below $32,000

As of August 26, DeFiLlama data shows that Shibarium’s TVL had reached $121,860. The next day, it fell to $31,277. The price closed at $31,277 the next day. It later recovered slightly to $31,513 before the reported press time.

The latest figure leaves TVL 74.14% below its earlier level. That represents roughly $90,347 less capital locked across the network. The remaining TVL equals about 25.86% of the August 26 figure.

The decline occurred while investors focused on recent ecosystem token gains. SHIB and other related tokens attracted attention during the broader market rally. However, capital locked across Shibarium’s DeFi sector moved lower.

The decline happened within a relatively short period. The figures show a steep reduction between August 26 and August 27. The small recovery afterward remained far below the previous TVL level.

SHIB Gains Diverge From DeFi Liquidity

The supplied report connects the decline with renewed attention toward ecosystem tokens. That attention followed recent price gains across the Shiba Inu ecosystem. Meanwhile, Shibarium’s DeFi metrics moved in the opposite direction.

SHIB as at the time of writing, was trading at $0.00000516 on August 29, based on provided data. That price level came as ecosystem tokens continued attracting market attention. However, Shibarium’s locked liquidity remained close to $31,513.

The report from TheCryptoBasic cited DeFiLlama figures for the TVL movement. Its post noted the fall from $121,860 to $31,277. It also reported the subsequent recovery toward $31,513.

TVL can change through withdrawals, token prices, incentives, and user positioning. Therefore, the supplied figures do not establish one specific cause. They instead document a sharp reduction in capital locked on Shibarium.

SHIB Derivatives Show Elevated Trading Activity

The derivatives chart shows several periods of increased liquidation activity. Liquidations stayed comparatively moderate through much of March and April. Activity became more pronounced during May as larger bars appeared.

The largest liquidation cluster occurred around July 24. A major red bar showed heavy short-position liquidations during that period. A substantial green bar also showed long positions facing forced closures.

Another sharp SHIB price movement appeared around August 19. Liquidation activity increased around that period, though July remained more pronounced. The chart links larger liquidation clusters with rapid market movements.

KuCoin displayed SHIB open interest at approximately $11.86 million. MEXC followed at $11.81 million, while Bitget recorded $10.53 million. OKX led trading volume at $14.58 million among exchanges shown.

LBank recorded roughly 59,320 futures trades during the displayed period. OKX followed with approximately 38,770 trades, while Bitunix reached 27,110. The figures show active derivatives participation alongside changing SHIB price conditions.
