- Santiment recorded 122 ZEC mentions on filing day, only slightly above the prior five-day average of 113 mentions.
- ZEC trading volume reached $835 million, its lowest weekday level in a month, despite a roughly 2% daily price gain.
- The Winklevoss ETF would hold ZEC directly, target Nasdaq’s WINK listing, and charge a proposed 0.25% annual sponsor fee.
Zcash has entered the U.S. crypto ETF race after Winklevoss Asset Services filed an S-1 with the SEC on Tuesday. The proposed Winklevoss Zcash ETF would hold ZEC directly and seek a Nasdaq listing under WINK. However, Santiment Intelligence said social activity and trading volume remained muted on the filing day.
Zcash ETF Filing Draws Limited Market Attention
Santiment reported 122 ZEC mentions on the filing day, compared with 113 daily mentions across the prior five weekdays. That figure remained below one-fifth of the Sept. 18 peak. Meanwhile, ZEC trading volume reached $835 million, its lowest weekday reading in a month.
Price rose about 2% that day but remained roughly 17% below its Sept. 26 close. According to Santiment, the filing received headlines without producing a comparable rise in discussion. The data came as the proposed fund entered the U.S. ETF market.
Winklevoss ETF Targets Direct ZEC Exposure
The S-1 proposes a fund that would hold ZEC directly through a trust. Investors would gain exposure through brokerage accounts without directly buying or holding Zcash. The proposed fund would trade on Nasdaq under WINK if the registration becomes effective.
However, the filing itself does not represent SEC approval. The preliminary prospectus sets an annual sponsor fee of 0.25%. It also describes the fund’s objective as tracking ZEC’s price, less expenses and liabilities.
Notably, Winklevoss Capital Fund has indicated nonbinding interest in buying up to $100 million of shares. The indication does not guarantee any purchase.
Filing Enters a Broader ETF Market
The proposed Zcash fund joins a U.S. market that has expanded beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. Issuers have also pursued products tied to individual altcoins and staking assets. Zcash adds a privacy-focused cryptocurrency to that group.
Its network design places privacy at the center of the asset. The registration statement can still change before becoming effective. Additionally, the securities cannot be sold until the SEC declares the registration effective.
Santiment’s data also showed that ZEC activity remained subdued around the filing. The proposed WINK listing remains subject to the regulatory process, with no confirmed trading date.
