Bitcoin Exchange Inflows Rise as BTC Tests $80,000

Bitcoin exchange inflows rise near $80,000 as selling pressure eases, leaving $84,000 as the next key level if BTC breaks higher.

Bitcoin Holds Key Support as Analysts Eye $107K
  • Binance led seven-day Bitcoin inflows at 10,700 BTC, followed by Coinbase Advanced at 7,100 BTC.
  • Bitcoin faced mixed spot flows as it climbed toward $80,000, with outflows reaching about $95 million around Aug. 28-29.
  • A sustained break above $80,000 could target $84,000, while renewed selling may push BTC toward $75,000-$77,000.

Bitcoin exchange inflows rose as BTC approached $80,000, according to analyst Darkfost. Data from Aug. 17 through Aug. 30 shows volatile spot flows during Bitcoin’s climb from $64,000 toward $80,000. The increase became most visible as BTC tested resistance, with major exchanges recording substantial inflows across the period.

Binance Leads Bitcoin Exchange Inflows

Darkfost reported that Binance recorded average inflows of 10,700 BTC during the past seven days. The exchange also handles the highest trading volumes among the platforms mentioned.

Coinbase Advanced followed with average inflows of 7,100 BTC, highlighting similar activity among institutional-focused traders. Meanwhile, Kraken and OKX each recorded inflows above 2,000 BTC.

According to Darkfost, the $80,000 level represents the average cost basis for capital invested in Bitcoin. Therefore, investors may use the level to lock in small gains or cut losses.

The exchange activity increased while Bitcoin attempted to break above $80,000. However, Darkfost said the selling pressure has eased as BTC pulled back.

Spot Flows Shift After Bitcoin Rally

The spot inflow and outflow data shows large swings between Aug. 17 and Aug. 30. During Aug. 19-21, positive netflows included a spike near $240 million. Other inflow readings during that period exceeded $100 million.

At the same time, Bitcoin climbed from roughly $64,000-$65,000 toward $75,000-$78,000. From Aug. 22, flows became more mixed, with positive and negative readings appearing repeatedly.

Notably, inflows reached about $100 million on Aug. 24 and $90 million on Aug. 25. Negative flows also became larger, with several readings reaching $50 million to $80 million. The largest appeared around Aug. 28-29, near negative $95 million.

Bitcoin Holds Near $80,000 Despite Outflows

Despite the shifting flows, Bitcoin remained near $80,000 during Aug. 25 and Aug. 27-28. The price later retreated toward $77,000 as momentum weakened. Darkfost said the recent selling pressure now appears to be easing.

Bitcoin therefore remains close to the $80,000 resistance level. The analyst also identified $84,000 as the next area if Bitcoin clears $80,000. Meanwhile, continued outflows could place the $75,000-$77,000 range back in focus.
