- Ripple Payments expands in Europe by partnering with Unicâmbio, enabling fast and cost-effective cross-border transactions for corporate clients.
- The Brazil-Portugal payments corridor strengthens as Unicâmbio joins Ripple’s network, alongside Travelex Bank and Mercado Bitcoin.
- Ripple continues issuing RLUSD, with millions minted recently, following listings on Revolut and Zero Hash to boost stablecoin adoption.
Ripple has secured a strategic partnership with Unicâmbio, Portugal’s top currency exchange provider. This move enhances Ripple Payments’ reach and allows corporate customers to transfer funds instantly across borders. The development bolsters the utility of XRP, as the digital asset powers these transactions.
The former On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) payments service known as Ripple Payments continues its European market expansion through the integration with Unicâmbio. Ripple’s president Monica Long announced the integration of Portugal to the network while highlighting its value in helping enterprises execute borderless transactions efficiently.
The alliance enables Unicâmbio clients to make their international payments faster and more cost-effectively through Ripple’s blockchain-based solution.
Brazil-Portugal Payments Corridor Gains Momentum
This partnership also reinforces the Brazil-Portugal payments corridor. Unicâmbio joins existing Brazilian financial entities like Travelex Bank and Mercado Bitcoin in leveraging Ripple Payments. The corridor facilitates smoother transactions between the two nations, strengthening economic ties.
Unicâmbio’s executive, Adriana Jerónimo, highlighted the deep cultural and business connections between Brazil and Portugal, making this integration particularly impactful.
Despite this significant expansion, XRP has seen only marginal market movement. The token experienced a 5% rise before slightly retracting, trading at $2.50291 at the time of writing. While the news did not cause a major price surge, it underscores the growing real-world utility of XRP within Ripple’s payment solutions.
Ripple Increases Stablecoin Issuance Amid Market Expansion
Beyond its partnership with Unicâmbio, Ripple continues to expand its financial offerings through stablecoin issuance. The Ripple Treasury recently minted two substantial batches of Ripple USD (RLUSD), amounting to 425,000 and 625,000 RLUSD. Over the weekend, a much larger 9.1 million RLUSD was issued within 12 hours.
The recent RLUSD issuance follows its listing on two major platforms: Revolut, an online banking application, and Zero Hash, a crypto infrastructure provider. These listings indicate growing adoption and utility for Ripple’s stablecoin in the digital payments ecosystem.
