Garanti BBVA Kripto is expanding its crypto trading platform’s security and performance by leveraging Ripple Custody and IBM technologies. The bank aims to meet high standards for customer trust, performance, and asset security by incorporating strategic collaborations with Ripple and IBM. After a successful pilot in 2023, Garanti BBVA Kripto is now extending the service to all its customers.

Strategic Partnership for Advanced Security

The collaboration between Ripple Custody and IBM enables Garanti BBVA Kripto to enhance its institutional-grade key management. The partnership ensures high-level security through end-to-end encryption, isolation of customer environments, and Hardware Security Modules (HSM). 

Notably, these modules come with the highest security certification, aiming to protect private keys and sensitive data. Additionally, this setup includes a robust governance framework, designed to mitigate risks linked to potential malicious actors.

With more than 14,000 users, Garanti BBVA Kripto prioritizes security in its rapidly growing customer base. These partnerships are part of its strategy to provide a secure environment for its crypto trading platform. As more users transfer and store digital assets, the bank’s focus on security, particularly through Ripple and IBM, becomes essential in maintaining customer trust.

Growing Demand for Digital Assets

Korcan Abalı, CEO and Member of the Board at Garanti BBVA Kripto, explained that the growing interest in digital assets drives the company’s continued expansion. According to Abalı, the company now offers services for a variety of digital currencies, including BTC, ETH, USDC, AVAX, CHZ, XRP, ARB, and SOL. As the number of customers increases daily, the collaboration with Ripple and IBM supports their goal of ensuring secure custody and infrastructure for these assets.

IBM’s Role in Strengthening Digital Asset Custody

IBM’s involvement focuses on providing a secure and compliant platform through its IBM LinuxONE infrastructure. This advanced technology ensures Garanti BBVA Kripto operates on a highly secure platform, complying with regulations and offering scalable solutions for digital asset custody. 

IBM Türkiye General Manager Işıl Kılınç Gürtuna highlighted the importance of security in digital asset management, emphasizing IBM’s commitment to providing advanced infrastructure for crypto trading platforms.

Ripple’s Senior Vice President Aaron Sears also noted that secure custody is foundational to unlocking value in the digital economy. The collaboration helps address increasing demand for new asset classes in Türkiye’s growing crypto market, with secure infrastructure remaining a priority.
