  • Phantom will remove Monad support on Aug. 26, directing users to migrate assets or import their Recovery Phrase elsewhere.
  • Monad co-founder Keone Hon said the decision reflects Phantom’s strategy shift rather than issues with the network.
  • Users will retain full ownership of onchain assets and can access them through other Monad-compatible EVM wallets.

Phantom will stop supporting the Monad network on Aug. 26 after deciding to focus on its core business, according to Monad co-founder Keone Hon and Phantom. The announcement came one day after Phantom integrated Robinhood Chain, while Monad users will receive in-app notifications explaining how to move or swap their assets before support ends.

Keone Hon Responds To Phantom Decision

Keone Hon said Phantom informed the Monad team that it would remove Monad, along with another network, as part of its business strategy. He described the move as a setback because Monad aims to connect its network with more parts of the financial economy.

However, Hon acknowledged that each wallet follows its own strategy. He also noted that Phantom differs from many competing wallets because users cannot manually add their own networks.

Hon encouraged Monad users to consider other Ethereum Virtual Machine wallets. He specifically mentioned MetaMask, Backpack, Rabby Wallet, Rainbow, Infinex and Ambire as compatible alternatives.

Phantom Explains Asset Migration Process

Phantom said it will begin notifying Monad users through the app before the Aug. 26 deadline. Those messages will include links explaining available migration and swap options.

According to Phantom, users will continue owning their assets because the wallet is self-custodial. Users can import their Recovery Phrase into any Monad-compatible wallet, even after Phantom removes network support.

Alternatively, users may swap native MON for wrapped MON on Solana within Phantom. The wallet also confirmed that Monad balances will remain onchain throughout the transition.

Wallet Support Ends, Assets Stay Accessible

After Aug. 26, Phantom will no longer display Monad balances or support sending, swapping or interacting with Monad-based assets inside the application. Any decentralized applications connected through Phantom will also disconnect from the network.

Monad is an Ethereum-compatible Layer 1 blockchain that launched its public mainnet in November 2025. According to Phantom, users should rely only on official in-app notifications and support articles during the migration process, while ignoring requests for Recovery Phrases or offers of migration assistance.
