  • Mercado Bitcoin integrates INJ tokens, enabling seamless access to Injective’s DeFi ecosystem for 3 million users in Latin America.
  • Injective’s ecosystem now supports fiat-to-crypto transactions in Brazilian Reais, enhancing accessibility for retail and corporate customers.
  • INJ token value rose 15.6% post-integration, reflecting increased user engagement and expanded blockchain adoption in Brazil.

Mercado Bitcoin, Brazil’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has officially integrated INJ, the native token of the Layer-1 Injective blockchain. The announcement was shared on Dec. 23 by Injective through its official X account. This integration marks a significant step in expanding blockchain accessibility for the exchange’s 3 million users.

Seamless Fiat-to-Crypto Transactions Introduced

The collaboration allows Mercado Bitcoin customers to engage directly with Injective’s decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. By facilitating fiat-to-crypto transactions in Brazilian Reais, users can seamlessly access the Injective platform, which currently holds over $43 million in total value locked, according to Defillama.

Following the integration, the value of INJ experienced a significant surge of 15.6%. The token’s price rose from a 24-hour low of $20.52 to $23.72 during the early trading hours of Dec. 24, indicating increased interest from users and investors.

Mercado Bitcoin’s Commitment to Blockchain Innovations

Since its founding in 2013, Mercado Bitcoin has become a leading platform in Latin America, focusing on financial accessibility and innovation. Besides this latest integration, the exchange has formed strategic partnerships to enhance its services. For instance, it partnered with Ripple on Oct. 3 to implement Ripple Payments, enabling faster and more affordable cross-border transactions.

The Ripple partnership introduced direct payment capabilities in Brazilian Reais and streamlined treasury operations between Brazil and Portugal. Mercado Bitcoin also became one of the first exchanges to list Ripple’s dollar-pegged stablecoin, demonstrating its proactive approach to diversifying offerings.

Collaboration with Mastercard Strengthens Global Reach

Moreover, the exchange partnered with Mastercard in May 2024 to enable live transaction capabilities across Latin American and European payment corridors. This collaboration emphasized Mercado Bitcoin’s commitment to broadening its reach and simplifying global transactions for its users.
