  • Lightspark Extend allows U.S. businesses to send instant Bitcoin payments through the Lightning Network, simplifying transfers.
  • UMA integration in Lightspark Extend enables easy Bitcoin payments using real-time payments-supported bank accounts in the U.S.
  • Over 99% of U.S. banks support Lightspark Extend, offering businesses a compliant, low-cost solution for Bitcoin Lightning payments.

Lightspark has introduced a new payment solution, Lightspark Extend, aimed at improving Bitcoin Lightning Network transactions across the United States. The company’s latest development enables businesses to facilitate instant payments to eligible account holders using Lightning technology. This initiative opens the door for seamless Bitcoin payments, benefiting both companies and consumers by offering fast, low-cost transfers.

Simplified Payments with UMA Integration

One of the key features of Lightspark Extend is its integration with Universal Money Addresses (UMA). UMA simplifies sending payments by using an address format similar to email, removing the need to remember complex codes or passwords.

Available in over 120 countries, UMA now makes it easier for businesses to send and receive Lightning payments in the U.S. Notably, recipients with real-time payments-enabled bank accounts can quickly access funds sent via the Bitcoin Lightning Network.

In addition, Lightspark Extend is compatible with Lightning-enabled wallets, exchanges, or bank accounts. This broad compatibility gives U.S. businesses a compliant and cost-effective way to offer round-the-clock payments. More importantly, the platform is accepted by more than 99% of U.S. banks that support real-time payments.

Compliance and Adoption Made Easier

To support businesses interested in adopting Lightspark Extend, the company has streamlined the onboarding process through a partnership with Zero Hash, a regulated financial institution.

Businesses can sign up for a UMA address, link eligible accounts, and begin receiving payments. This onboarding simplifies the transition for businesses looking to implement Bitcoin Lightning Network transactions, making it a more accessible option for a broader audience.

This move comes at a time when real-time payments are gaining momentum. Businesses can now offer faster, lower-cost payments while staying compliant with financial regulations, creating opportunities for growth in the payments industry.

Expanding Partnerships with Coinbase

Just last week, Lightspark expanded its partnership with Coinbase, allowing users to send Bitcoin transactions instantly, up to $10,000, through the Lightning Network. This collaboration further showcases the potential of the Bitcoin Lightning Network to enable quicker and more efficient Bitcoin transfers.

Lightspark Extend’s launch reflects the company’s continued efforts to expand instant Bitcoin payments across the U.S.
