U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has made her first remarks on the cryptocurrency industry, outlining her plans to incorporate AI and digital assets into her broader economic vision.

Speaking at a high-profile Wall Street fundraiser, Harris discussed the need for an “opportunity economy” that would foster innovation while ensuring consumer protection. The Vice President emphasized the role of emerging technologies in strengthening America’s competitiveness on the global stage.

Promoting Innovation While Ensuring Consumer Protections

During the Manhattan event, Harris laid out her vision, which focuses on balancing the promotion of innovative technologies like AI and cryptocurrencies with strong protections for consumers and investors.

According to a Bloomberg report, Harris expressed her commitment to bringing together labor groups, small businesses, founders, and major corporations to invest in the nation’s future.

“We will partner to invest in America’s competitiveness,” Harris stated, emphasizing her administration’s goal of establishing a clear and transparent regulatory framework for digital assets.

This framework, she noted, would provide a secure environment for businesses while offering consistent protections for consumers and investors. Harris’ comments are a forward step towards integrating the conversation around crypto into her economic platform as the November election nears.

Fundraising Event Draws High-Profile Attendees

The Manhattan fundraiser, billed as a key campaign event for Harris, attracted celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Whoopi Goldberg, and Billy Porter. The event reportedly had ticket prices ranging from $500 to $1 million.

Organizers referred to it as one of the final chances for voters to hear Harris speak in New York before the election. Bloomberg reported that Harris’ campaign aims to build a financial advantage over her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump.

Crypto Industry’s Political Attention Intensifies

Harris’ speech on digital assets comes as her Republican rival, Donald Trump, has been making overtures to the crypto community. In recent days, Trump visited PubKey, a Bitcoin-themed bar in New York City, and revealed details about his family’s World Liberty Financial project.

While Trump’s proposals have received a mixed response, Harris appears to be taking a more structured approach to integrating cryptocurrency into her broader economic plans.
