  • Fidelity recorded the highest Bitcoin ETF inflows, absorbing 3,625 BTC worth $364.8 million, surpassing BlackRock’s 2,047 BTC on January 7.
  • BlackRock led Ethereum inflows, attracting 33,618 ETH compared to Fidelity’s 1,250 ETH, highlighting contrasting ETF performance between BTC and ETH.
  • Fidelity maintains a strong BTC position with 209,135 BTC worth $21.05 billion, while BlackRock holds 1,114,423 ETH valued at $4.05 billion.

January 7 saw significant activity in spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), with total net inflows reaching $828.97 million, equivalent to 8,238 BTC. Fidelity’s Wide Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) led the charge, absorbing 3,625 BTC worth $364.8 million. This marked the largest inflow of the day, positioning Fidelity ahead of BlackRock’s IBIT, which attracted 2,047 BTC valued at $200.75 million.

Weekly Performance Also Favors Fidelity

Besides dominating daily inflows, Fidelity outpaced BlackRock in weekly net inflows. Fidelity gathered 7,972 BTC over the past week, significantly higher than BlackRock’s 955 BTC. This success follows BlackRock experiencing two substantial Bitcoin outflows in December, the largest since the ETF’s inception.

However, BlackRock excelled in Ethereum ETF inflows. On January 7, BlackRock’s Ethereum ETF attracted 33,618 ETH, dwarfing Fidelity’s inflows of 1,250 ETH. The combined Ethereum ETF inflows for the day amounted to 33,780 ETH. Consequently, BlackRock currently holds a commanding 1,114,423 ETH, valued at $4.05 billion.

Strong Holdings by Fidelity and BlackRock

Significantly, Fidelity maintains a robust Bitcoin position, holding 209,135 BTC, worth approximately $21.05 billion. Meanwhile, BlackRock remains dominant in Ethereum holdings, further solidifying its position as a major player in the crypto ETF space.

The contrasting performances underscore the evolving dynamics between Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. While Fidelity demonstrated leadership in Bitcoin, BlackRock retained its edge in Ethereum, highlighting distinct investor preferences and strategies in the ETF landscape.
