Vitalik Buterin announced a change of leadership at the Ethereum Foundation. After seven years as Executive Director, Aya Miyaguchi has recently been appointed as President. This is an adjustment in the strategic direction consistent with the fundamental values. Besides, the foundation has a project underway that is going to be announced soon to determine a new model of leadership.

Ethereum has maintained a permissionless innovation culture. Her action also aligns with the broader decentralization and resilience philosophy of Ethereum. Miyaguchi underlined that Ethereum’s decentralized governance is its main advantage. 

No one in particular owns the network, yet it belongs to everyone. This neutrality ensures its integrity. However, she highlighted that achieving this balance requires thoughtful complexity. EF’s philosophy of subtraction is not minimalism but a strategic approach to reducing centralization while enhancing efficiency.
