  • Open-source Bitcoin courses to be integrated into public schools, enhancing financial literacy.
  • El Salvador’s Bitcoin education initiative aims to lead global crypto adoption and governance.

El Salvador is taking significant steps to further integrate Bitcoin into its national infrastructure by offering Bitcoin education and certification to 80,000 civil servants. This initiative, led by the National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC) of the Presidential Office, underscores the country’s commitment to digital currency as a central part of its economy.

In addition to training public servants, the government plans to introduce open-source Bitcoin courses in public schools, marking another milestone in its pioneering adoption of cryptocurrency.

The ONBTC announced that the Bitcoin instruction will extend across all levels of public service. The program aims to equip civil servants with the knowledge and skills needed to engage with Bitcoin, both as a currency and as a technology.

The goal is to create a knowledgeable workforce that can effectively navigate the growing digital economy. This effort aligns with President Nayib Bukele’s broader vision of positioning El Salvador as a leader in cryptocurrency adoption.

In a bid to foster a new generation of Bitcoin-literate citizens, El Salvador will also incorporate open-source Bitcoin courses such as “Mi Primer Bitcoin” and “Node Nation” into the public school curriculum.

These programs teach students the basics of Bitcoin, helping young Salvadorans get ready for the changing global economy. This effort is part of a larger plan to update education by adding modern financial skills to the national curriculum.

Stacy Herbert, a prominent figure in the Bitcoin community, highlighted the impact of these initiatives. She noted that the ONBTC has been instrumental in setting high standards for Bitcoin education and that El Salvador’s efforts are likely to influence other nations.

Herbert also mentioned the development of a new K-8 Bitcoin workbook and the creation of a Bitcoin module for the ESIAP Academia, which was established to promote excellence in governance.
