  • Philippe Laffont now considers Bitcoin suitable for portfolios, recommending a 3–4% allocation due to reduced volatility.
  • Anthony Scaramucci praised Laffont’s shift, saying it reflects recognition of Bitcoin’s generational investment potential.
  • Investor caution around Bitcoin is declining as leading hedge fund managers endorse it as an inflation hedge and stable asset.

Philippe Laffont, the billionaire founder of Coatue Management, has signaled a clear shift in his investment approach by endorsing Bitcoin as a viable asset class. Speaking at Coinbase’s State of Crypto Summit in New York, Laffont acknowledged that the digital asset’s volatility has declined to levels acceptable to traditional investors.

Previously cautious, Laffont avoided exposure to Bitcoin due to its sharp price swings, which he believed conflicted with conservative portfolio strategies. However, he now recognizes the flagship cryptocurrency as stable enough for institutional consideration. He recommended a modest allocation between 3% and 4% for investors seeking to diversify without inducing anxiety.

Scaramucci Reacts to Laffont’s Bitcoin Entry

Long-time Bitcoin supporter Anthony Scaramucci, the founder of SkyBridge Capital, was happy to see Laffont reverse. In a social media update, Scaramucci affirmed that Laffont has been converted into a believer of Bitcoin long-term logic, describing it as the best investment of the century.

Laffont joins a growing number of influential financiers who view Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation and fiat currency depreciation. He admitted regret for not entering the market earlier but emphasized that now is still a viable time to start building exposure. His commentary reflects growing institutional confidence in Bitcoin’s role amid economic uncertainty.

Investor Sentiment Divided but Shifting

Laffont categorized his clients into three groups. Some fully trust his decisions, others question why Bitcoin was overlooked, and a third group remains wary of any involvement in cryptocurrencies. According to him, this third group is shrinking as awareness and confidence in digital assets expand among mainstream investors.

In a previous statement, Scaramucci predicted that Bitcoin could reach $500,000, attributing the forecast to increasing government debt and spending. He has consistently maintained that even late adopters are still early in the long-term Bitcoin narrative.
