The AI crypto sector is rebounding after a steep decline, gaining more than one-third in just two weeks. According to CoinMarketCap, the combined market cap now stands at $28.8 billion. This marks a strong recovery from the $21.46 billion low on April 9. Back in January, the sector peaked at $70.42 billion before rapidly plunging. The renewed surge has reignited investor interest across AI-linked tokens.

Several top AI projects outperformed the broader market. Near Protocol climbed 26% in the past week. Render gained 23%, while the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance jumped 36%. Bittensor led the rally with a 47% increase. Even Ethereum posted a 14% rise, signaling widespread market optimism.

AI Narratives Drive Investor Interest

CoinGecko’s April 17 report highlighted a growing trend. Five of the top 20 crypto narratives are AI-related. These captured 35.7% of global investor interest. In contrast, memecoins held a 27.1% share. The most dominant AI narratives include general AI, AI agents, and DeFAI. Smaller trends like AI memecoins and AI agent launchpads also gained traction.

Moreover, 87% of crypto users are willing to let AI manage at least 10% of their portfolio. About half trust AI to manage up to 50%. This shows strong confidence in AI’s financial decision-making capabilities. Hence, platforms like Olas and Baby Degen are attracting attention with their autonomous trading agents.

Real-World AI Developments Gain Momentum

Beyond crypto, real-world AI applications are advancing quickly. UC Berkeley’s Physical Intelligence (Pi) raised $400 million to develop adaptive robots. Its latest model, π0.5, can perform household tasks with surprising flexibility. It understands commands like “make the bed” or “clean up the spill” and adapts to new environments.

Additionally, Openai’s new o3 model showcases advanced reasoning and geolocation skills. It identified a specific spot on Japan’s Hanshin Expressway from a moving car photo. This highlights its agentic intelligence and image analysis power.

Meanwhile, Chatgpt has made waves in healthcare. It correctly identified Hodgkin’s lymphoma in a woman misdiagnosed by doctors. Social media users also credit the AI for resolving other health issues.
