Jupiter Acquires Moonshot and SonarWatch to Strengthen Solana Ecosystem

CFN Feature Crypto
  • Jupiter’s acquisition of Moonshot highlights its focus on enhancing Solana’s DeFi ecosystem and leveraging Moonshot’s memecoin-driven user growth.
  • SonarWatch’s portfolio tracking features are being integrated into Jupiter, marking a step forward in Jupiter’s platform innovation.
  • New Jupiter platform features, including Ultra Mode and Jupiter Shield, aim to automate and secure the trading experience for users.

Solana’s decentralized exchange aggregator Jupiter has acquired a majority stake in Moonshot, a self-custodial app that enables users to purchase meme coins, including using Apple Pay. Announced by Jupiter’s pseudonymous founder, Meow, the deal emphasizes the app’s growing prominence following the launch of Donald Trump’s meme-coin.

Moonshot, which debuted in July 2024, witnessed a surge in popularity after the TRUMP meme-coin launch on January 18, recording $400 million in trading volume on its debut day. Within days, the app topped the US App Store’s finance category, boasting 1 million daily active users by January 20. Powered by TurnkeyHQ, Moonshot’s innovative payment options have positioned it as a standout platform in the DeFi space.

SonarWatch Integration into Jupiter’s Platform

In a parallel development, Jupiter has also acquired SonarWatch, a Solana-based portfolio-tracking tool. The acquisition marks a strategic step toward enhancing Jupiter’s platform capabilities. As part of the deal, SonarWatch’s standalone operations will cease, with its features fully integrated into Jupiter’s platform.

The native token of SonarWatch, SONAR, will also be discontinued. Token holders will be allowed to exchange their tokens for Jupiter’s native token, JUP, as SonarWatch’s functionalities merge under Jupiter’s branding.

Platform Upgrades and Feature Enhancements

Jupiter unveiled a range of platform updates, including the introduction of “Ultra Mode.” This feature automates real-time slippage estimation, dynamic priority fees, and optimized transaction handling, aiming to improve the trading experience.

In addition, a security tool named Jupiter Shield is set for release, bolstering user protection. Manual Mode has also been upgraded with Routing and Broadcast options, providing enhanced control over trades. New perpetual features such as limit orders and one-click trading have been introduced, with all updates currently in beta.
