- Truth Social’s Patriot Package will let users convert earned gems into Crypto.com’s native CRO token later this year.
- Trump Media shifts from launching its own token to CRO integration, denying earlier memecoin rumors and token plans.
- The firm purchased 684.4M CRO worth $105M as part of a $6.4B digital asset treasury, deepening ties with Crypto.com.
Trump Media and Technology Group has introduced a new update to its Truth Social platform, connecting its digital rewards system directly with cryptocurrency. The company announced that users subscribed to its premium Patriot Package will soon be able to convert platform-earned “gems” into Cronos (CRO), the native token of Crypto.com. The change ties digital engagement across Truth Media’s ecosystem to blockchain-based assets, marking a shift from earlier discussions about launching a proprietary utility token.
CRO Conversion Option
According to the announcement, Patriot Package subscribers can earn gems by engaging in activities across Truth Social and the Truth+ streaming service. These gems will now be transferable into CRO using Crypto.com’s wallet infrastructure. Notably, Trump Media did not provide details on conversion rates or limits but confirmed the feature will roll out later this year.
This update follows months of speculation around a possible Truth Social token launch. In an April letter to shareholders, Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes outlined plans to introduce a utility token within a Truth digital wallet. At the time, the token was intended for subscription payments and other platform services. However, the company has now opted to integrate with an established cryptocurrency rather than release its own.
Rumors Denied and Earlier Token Discussions
The change comes after widespread rumors in May about a potential Truth Social memecoin. However, the company denied those claims. Donald Trump Jr. also publicly stated that there was “no truth” to the speculation.
By September, the company had turned its focus to CRO integration, which may provide a faster and more secure path for implementing crypto features. This is not Trump Media’s first engagement with Crypto.com.
Earlier in 2025, the two firms unveiled plans for exchange traded funds (ETFs) under the Truth.Fi brand. The ETFs, set to be distributed by Crypto.com’s broker-dealer Foris Capital, will focus on digital assets and American-based securities, pending regulatory approval.
Expanding Digital Asset Strategy Through CRO
Beyond the platform update, Trump Media has entered a broader agreement with Crypto.com involving a high CRO acquisition. The company agreed to purchase 684.4 million CRO tokens, valued at about $105 million.
This transaction is part of a $6.4 billion digital asset treasury strategy, funded through a mix of stock and cash. The tokens will be stored in Crypto.com’s institutional custody system.
According to people familiar with the matter, the holdings may be staked for additional yield opportunities. This large scale acquisition further connects Trump Media to the digital asset sector while aligning its rewards program with a widely recognized cryptocurrency.
