The TON Foundation has announced a partnership with Tada, a Singapore-based ride-hailing app, a step toward integrating cryptocurrency into everyday transactions. This collaboration introduces a new feature allowing users to book rides via a Telegram Mini App and make payments using the TON blockchain. Users in Singapore can now complete their rides using either Toncoin (TON) or Tether (USDT), expanding the use of cryptocurrencies in real-world applications.

Tada Expands Reach with Crypto-Powered Payments

Founded in 2018, Tada operates in several Southeast Asian countries, including Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. The company plans to extend its reach to Hong Kong by the end of 2024. Notably, Tada’s zero-commission policy has made it popular among both drivers and riders, providing a cost-effective alternative to other platforms. With this new integration, Tada introduces another layer of convenience by allowing riders to pay in cryptocurrency, following the recent launch of Tether’s USDT on the TON network in April 2024.

4,000 Free Rides During Token2049 Conference

The timing of this collaboration aligns with the upcoming Token2049 event in Singapore. Harvey Kim, head of Korea at TON Foundation, revealed that the partnership will be promoted by offering 4,000 free and discounted rides. Attendees of the conference can book rides through the Telegram Mini App without needing additional software. The app, which accepts both Toncoin and USDT, enhances accessibility and streamlines the payment process.

Crypto Payments Aim to Accelerate Web3 Adoption

This collaboration between TON Foundation and Tada represents a broader effort to integrate Web3 solutions into existing Web2 platforms. Kim emphasized the importance of partnerships like this, noting that combining ride-hailing services, social media platforms, and cryptocurrency payments could help users understand the benefits of decentralized solutions more quickly. This move highlights the growing push for wider cryptocurrency adoption in everyday use cases, such as transportation, social media, and digital payments.
