Olympic medalist Imane Khelif has lodged a criminal complaint in France, implicating several high-profile individuals, including Elon Musk, J. K. Rowling, and potentially former U.S. President Donald Trump, in a case involving aggravated cyber harassment.

Khelif’s complaint centers around alleged harassment following the 2024 Paris Olympics. The issue gained attention when Khelif’s opponent, Angela Carini, withdrew from their scheduled boxing match, igniting debates on X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk.

Elon Musk and J. K. Rowling reportedly expressed their views on the incident, which Khelif’s legal team claims fueled a wave of harassment against the Olympic champion. Khelif’s attorney, Nabil Boudi, has stated that the harassment was misogynistic, racist, and sexist, targeting Khelif based on her gender and nationality.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump also became embroiled in the controversy after posting a photo from the match on social media, with comments suggesting that men should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports.

Though Trump wasn’t initially named in the complaint, Khelif’s lawyers say his role in the talks could bring more legal attention as the investigation continues.

The Paris Prosecutor’s Office is currently reviewing the complaint, which also targets social media companies, including X, for their role in enabling the alleged harassment. Under French law, the investigation will determine which entities, individuals, or corporations can be held accountable for cyber harassment.

This complaint is part of a more extensive series of legal issues involving Elon Musk. The United Automobile Workers (UAW) union recently filed a lawsuit against Musk and Trump, accusing them of threatening workers during a livestream. Musk also faces possible legal action from the European Union over content on X that the EU says could harm its citizens under the Digital Services Act (DSA).
