A leading European cryptocurrency exchange, Bitpanda, has issued an urgent warning to its users and the broader crypto community regarding a sharp rise in SMS-based phishing and scam attempts. 

This critical alert, shared via Bitpanda’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, is aimed at safeguarding users from falling victim to these increasingly sophisticated scams. The exchange emphasized that it would never request personal information or funds through unsolicited communications, urging users to remain vigilant.

Bitpanda’s alert comes amid growing concerns over the heightened sophistication of scammers who now make their fraudulent messages appear legitimate by placing them alongside authentic communications from trusted sources. 

In a detailed video message accompanying the alert, Bitpanda exchange outlined several guidelines to help users secure their accounts. The exchange emphasized the importance of accessing the platform only through official links. To ensure safety, users are advised to bookmark legitimate websites rather than relying on search engine results, which could direct them to fraudulent sites.

Additionally, users are advised to remain calm when receiving unexpected communications. Scammers often create a false sense of urgency, pressuring victims into making quick, uninformed decisions. Taking the time to verify any requests is essential in preventing fraud.

Taking into account what has been said above it can be stated that scammers are not standing still and can locate their messages right under the messages from genuine sources.
